SINGAPORE: Fresh graduates, mid-career professionals, or anyone interested in learning how to navigate their careers can look forward to an inaugural event to learn more from industry experts, receive guidance from human resource (HR) professionals and meet with prospective employers.
The Career Forward event, which is organized by Mediacorp in partnership with Skillsfuture Singapore and Workforce Singapore, will be held at the Sands’ Expo & Convention Center on Mar 23 and Mar 24.
The free event is open to the public and will be held from 10am to 6pm on both days.
The event will be anchored on four themes:
- The Digital Economy, which will look at career insights in tech-related fields such as software development, data analytics, AI and cybersecurity, as well as how these sectors drive Singapore’s economic growth and global competitiveness
- The Green Economy, which will offer attendees advice on how to build and navigate a career in sustainability and innovations within the field
- The Care Economy, which will dive into career options within the healthcare and social service sectors and teach attendees how to develop a career in the healthcare industry
- The Career Landscape in Singapore, which will educate attendees on how to successfully plan one’s career path, how to network and prepare for job interviews, and the talent outlook in Singapore
The event will be launched by Manpower Minister Dr Tan See Leng who will be a panellist on the topic of “How employers can empower workers to strengthen their career health”.
Also speaking at the event were group chief executive officer of the Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation Helen Wong and the co-lead of Action for Alliance, Widening Access to Talent, Dr Bicky Bhangu.
Other topics that will be covered over the two days include women’s careers and the glass ceiling, the prospects of careers in financial technology (Fintech) and how to build an impactful LinkedIn presence among other topics.
First-time jobseekers and mid-career switchers can also seek out new job opportunities at a career fair featuring a variety of companies across industries such as insurance and finance, information technology and media.
Attendees will also be able to gather information on learning resources and courses available from learning partners to support them in upgrading themselves.
