James Bergl joins SaaS recruitment firm Bluebird as managing partner – Services

Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) recruitment company Bluebird has appointed James Bergl as managing partner of its Asia-Pacific (APAC) business.

Bergl announced his new position in a LinkedIn post just over a month after he stepped away from his role as Pax8’s APAC VP of communities and ecosystem.

“After 16 rewarding years in software sales and leadership, I’m excited to embark on a new journey as managing partner at Blue Bird Asia-Pacific,” Bergl said in the post.

“This pivot aligns with my lifelong passion for creating high-performance go-to-market teams, and now, I’m privileged to extend this expertise to help software companies in the APAC region attract and secure top-tier talent.”

Amsterdam-headquartered Bluebird, which claims to be exclusively made up of “former SaaS professionals,” was founded in 2020 and helps venture capital-backed SaaS companies around the world fill commercial positions across their go-to-market function.

Prior to his two-year stint at Pax8, Bergl spent over six years as ANZ VP of Datto and more than two years as APAC sales manager for N-able Technologies (formerly Solarwinds MSP).

Bergl said he and Bluebird’s co-founder Michael Kunst “worked together at N-able over a decade ago and his exceptional skills as a sales rep and leader left a lasting impression.”

“It’s no surprise that today, he’s built a thriving SaaS recruitment business across Europe, founded on a compelling principle: every Bluebird team member brings firsthand experience as a top-tier SaaS professional.”

“My journey through the years, involving countless interviews and hires, has made it clear that SaaS recruitment often falls short of expectations. This gap exists primarily because recruiters rarely possess the real-world experience of the roles they fill. This is where I see an opportunity to make a difference.”

“My aim is to provide emerging software companies with a decisive advantage, offering them candidates that I, with my experience, would choose for my own teams.”

“As we embark on this journey of growth and APAC market disruption, I look forward to partnering with you and shaping the future of SaaS sales recruitment across the Asia Pacific region!”
